The Event of the Week

We have no keen insights on the China/US negotiations or any country trade deals that will move the market 200bps on a tweet – that’s not our game. It’s easy to make money but damn hard sitting on our hands (and even harder having a weekly publication with nothing to say…)

With that in mind, we are going to shut off our screens and step off the desk for the next few weeks so we don’t do something stupid and get dragged back into ramping exposure.

Buyback Monitor: The fert play, CF, keeps hammering the buy button, finishing up the Q with $434m bought and $1.6B in the TTM with a fresh $2 program just announced (~15%). Worth noting they are number 15 on our leaderboard….


13D and Activist Monitor:  Drama continues at Harley Davidson, small win for H Partners as two independent proxy advisory firms – Glass Lewis and Egan-Jones backed came out in support of the activist, recommend vote “WITHHOLD” on CEO Jochen Zeitz and directors Thomas Linebarger, and Sara Levinson at the upcoming Annual Meeting of Shareholders. This comes after ISS recommended shareholders to vote “FOR ALL” the director nominees. AGM May 14th.
