The Event of the Week

We couldn’t help but notice bonds selling off on Friday, as the missile attacks started. Maybe it’s a one-day wonder, but we think it’s something more. Maybe our bond market decline is finally ready… For that matter, we think we’re pretty close to “peak stupid” in equities, in terms of the current market bounce. We still believe that equities make new lows this year. If we fail, we’re thinking it’s somewhere around here.

M&A Monitor: CVGW caught a non-binding, conditional for $32/sh (~16% spread). Worth noting that CEO Lecil Cole and other insiders had a flurry on buying activity a couple months ago in the mid 20s too….


CEO Changes Monitor: “Home of the Pizookie” BJ’s Restaurant (BJRI), goes internal and names Lyle Tick, current President and Chief Concept Officer, to replace former CEO and Exec Chair Rob Katz at the helm. Tick was formerly the CEO of On the Border and served as an executive at Buffalo Wild Wings. BJRI recently signed a Cooperation Agreement with Ron Shair, the founder of Panera and current Chair of the Board at CAVA, in which he stated that he was “impressed by Mr. Tick’s vision and strategy”
